Teen arrested following short pursuit, crash in stolen vehicle in Racine

RACINE (CBS 58) -- A 16-year-old Racine boy was arrested and charged with auto theft and eluding after a pursuit and crash on Tuesday. 

According to the Racine County Sheriff's Office, a deputy saw a vehicle run a stop sign near the intersection of 17th St. and Taylor St. 

The deputy tried to pull the car over, but the suspect vehicle drove off speeding. Due to the public's safety authorities say they ended a chase. As the pursuit was ending, the vehicle side swiped a parked car and hit two others. 

After the crash, four occupants ran from the vehicle. A perimeter was set and the driver was taken into custody. The three other occupants were not located. 

Deputies learned the car was stolen near 19th St. and Grange Ave. 

The 16-year-old male was held at Juvenile Detention on the following charges: Auto Theft, Obstructing, Reckless Endangering Safety, and Felony Fleeing and Eluding. The male was also cited for numerous traffic violations.
