RACINE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) - Storms rolled in and out of Southeast Wisconsin on Tuesday night, March 10, and some people spent Wednesday cleaning up after parts of their neighborhoods flooded.
Joseph Bartos and his family live in Mount Pleasant near Racine and saw flooding in their yard Tuesday night.
“It was over ankle deep in water, it was crazy, it was all the way up top, all the way down, all back there, it was insane,” Bartos said.
The water quickly got into the basement, forcing Bartos and his family to rip out the carpet on Wednesday.
“Ninety percent of my yard was in water,” Bartos said. “There was too much, you could see it flowing over even though the sump pump was going.”
Bartos said there was up to seven inches of water in his backyard, moving pieces of fence across the yard.
“The entire backyard was flooded out, all the landscaping timbers came out from their stake and started floating around,” Bartos said.
