MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Los Bukis visited Milwaukee for the first time.

The Mexican band, which reunited after 25 years in 2021, kicked off the 50th anniversary of Mexican Fiesta on Thursday.

"These are the Mexican Beatles," said concertgoer Jesus Carrillo, wearing a Los Bukis hat and shirt.

With 16 studio albums, the band is a household name in the Spanish-speaking community.

"It's special, growing up listening to it from her," said Clinton resident Crystal Trejo, who got tickets to the concert as a birthday gift from her mother. "It's crazy. I never thought that they'd ever go on tour, ever."

Lead singer Marco Antonio Solis enjoyed a successful solo career after the band parted ways in 1996, winning 5 Grammys.

"We were hoping he would still be with the band when we got to see them," Clinton resident Toni Muniz said.

Since the reunion was unexpected, some fans made the trip to Wisconsin for the concert, not letting distance keep them from seeing Los Bukis live in person at least once.

"This is probably one of the last opportunities they're probably going to be together, so take advantage of it," North Dakota resident Ricardo Cardona said. "I bought my tickets the day they came out, back in March, so I've been waiting for 5 and 6 months now, so yeah, very excited."

Thursday's Milwaukee concert was just one of two for the band this year.
