MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Shocking surveillance video shows the horrifying moments of a drive-by shooting in Milwaukee. A 48-year-old man, identified as Dale Young, was shot and killed Friday, July 7 near 69th and Carmen Avenue. His family is sharing the legacy he leaves behind.

Young's family describe him as a beloved basketball coach who made a positive impact in his community. His daughter, Cashayla Needom, said his loss has been felt by many.

"This not only hurts his family, but this hurts the community," said Needom.

Milwaukee police responded to a drive-by shooting on Friday, July 7 around 6:50 a.m., near 69th and Carmen Avenue.

Surveillance video shows the white van Young was driving stop alongside a red pickup truck. Moments later, shots rang out. Young exits the van while it continues driving down the street. The red pick-up truck then leaves the scene.

Neighbor Robert Brox jumped into action when he heard several gunshots outside of the home. He attempted to help Young by tending to his wounds.

"I just kept calling him my bro -- keep breathing, bro, keep breathing. I didn't know his name, but I had a connection with him," said Brox.

The events that led to this shooting have not been confirmed, but Needom said her father was attempting to help a family member leave an abusive relationship.

Milwaukee police have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection to the shooting.

A vigil for Young will be held Monday night, July 10 at 7 p.m. near 12th and Atkinson.
