'This is a reality now': Milwaukee food truck owner says car crashed into his business causing fire
Loubachi MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee food truck owner says he's lost everything after a car crashed into his truck, causing all of his hard work to go up in flames.
"This is a dream," said Louis Deamon, the owner of the Loubachi Food Truck. "This is a dream. This is a reality now."
Starting off serving hibachi on the streets, Deamon, who is 27-year-old, was finally able to make his dream of opening a food truck come true last month.
"I was cooking on the streets and I respect my people who come to me and I love what I do so much," said Deamon.
Proud to serve up meals for his community, he says everything changed Tuesday night, Dec. 2.
"They are like 'bro your truck is on fire', so I go outside and sure enough it’s a small little fire right on the gas line," said Deamon.
He says a driver crashed into his food truck damaging the gas lines, which later caused a fire.
"We heard it exploded three minutes after it caught fire… boom," said Deamon.
Deamon says he was in shock and devastated to see all of his hard work go up in flames.
"Right when the fire was happening, I had people here crying," said Deamon. "There were people there trying to put out the fire."
He says his business is his livelihood and what he relies on for income.
"I've got like 400 and some dollars to my name since I opened a business," said Deamon. "All the money going into this."
He says since he recently opened the food truck, it wasn’t insured yet and is now having to start over.
"We haven’t even been open a month," said Deamon. "I haven’t even had enough time to do everything I needed."
Holding onto hope to once again make his dream a reality.
"It's going to come, it's going to be here, Loubatchi," said Deamon.
There's a GoFundMe to support Deamon and his business here.
