MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A wave of pink moved across Henry Maier Festival Park Sunday morning, Sept. 28.

Thousands gathered for the 27th annual Susan G. Komen 'More Than Pink Walk'.

In a sea of pink, 700 breast cancer survivors and thousands of supporters laced up their pink shoes.

"Really amazing to see other people that have been in your same situation," said Stacy Kulas, breast cancer survivor.

Breast cancer survivor, Stacy Kulas, has been gotten decked out in pink the last three years, since her own diagnosis.

"Let's remember the people that we lost and let's celebrate the people that have survived." said Kulas.

According to the American Cancer Society one in eight women will get diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.

"That's a lot of women and everyone out there knows someone who has been touched by the disease, so this walk is important. We do have five million survivors in the country, but women are still dying," said Nikki Panico, Executive Director of Susan G. Komen Wisconsin.

Panico says there's still work to be done.

"In the state alone 767 women are going to pass from this disease that's unacceptable so organization like Susan G. Komen needs to continue their work," said Panico.

For the last 14 years this mother daughter duo says nothing compares to their 'More Than Pink Walk' tradition.

"We come every single year sometimes we go to the Madison one as well," said Brittany Nelson, supporting breast cancer survivor.

"It's very emotional seeing everybody.  I'm in tears every year I walked survivor path. I'm in tears just seeing everybody supporting you," said Linda Hohler, 14-year breast cancer survivor.

October is breast cancer awareness month, Panico says after this walk there's no rest for Susan G. Komen.
