6:15pm Update:

Our Winter Storm Warning, Winter Weather Advisory, and Wind Advisory have all officially taken effect and will continue until tomorrow evening.

Heavy rain has now wrapped up, and we should see some quiet time before the snow enters.  Snow will really start to develop for most around 7-8pm with it becoming more widespread closer to midnight.  Totals aren't anything crazy, but the winds that will really start to pick up overnight is the concerning part.

Winds could gust as high as 55mph, so even when the snow wraps up tomorrow morning, snow will likely still blow around.  This will cause visibility to stay reduced and travel to stay tough.  Winds will also come in out of the northwest quickly cooling off temps allowing for a flash freeze overnight.  Roads will stay slick through tomorrow.

May be an image of ski slope, arctic and text that says '058 WEATHER HEADLINES WIND GUSTS to 55MPH WILL BLOW AROUND SNOW VISIBILITY WILL STAY REDUCED WINDS OUT OF THE NORTHWEST WILL CREATE FLASH FREEZE SLICK ROADS OVERNIGHT SLICKROADSOVERNIGHT-TOUGH TOUGH TRAVEL MONDAY!'

Update as of 1:15 PM on Sunday, December 28th...

We now have a Winter Storm Warning in place for the northern tier of the viewing area.  It goes from 6 PM Sunday until 6 PM Monday. More than six inches of snow could fall. Elsewhere, it's a Winter Weather Advisory. Milwaukee County and points south and west are not included. But a Dense Fog Advisory for lakeside spots remains through Sunday afternoon. Watch for deteriorating conditions as we go through the evening. The winds will increase too, creating blowing and drifting into tomorrow.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58)--Get ready for some massive weather changes, starting Sunday night. First, we have one more mild day to endure. Highs in the 40s with scattered rain showers. This rain will switch to snow Sunday night. We could see a few inches collect overnight.  The wind will increase as well.  Gusts around 50 mph are possible late Sunday into much of Monday. You can thank a strong Arctic front for all of this. Keep in mind, there's a Winter Weather Advisory from 6 PM Sunday until noon Monday for most counties except Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and Walworth. There's also a Wind Advisory from 6 PM Sunday until 6 PM Monday. Gusts more than 50 mph are possible. Totals from the storm will generally be 1 to 3 inches with higher amounts north of I-94.

Tuesday and Wednesday, there's still a chance for some light snow with a few different clippers. Otherwise, expect cold weather to start a new year with highs in the teens and 20s. Perhaps a little milder into next weekend.
