Police: DNS inspector shot at during attempting carjacking, 3 children arrested
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Authorities are investigating after a Milwaukee Department of Neighborhood Services Special Enforcement inspector was shot at near 32nd and Wisconsin on Wednesday, April 29.
According to police, the victim encountered a suspect trying to steal their vehicle around 3:30 p.m. Police say the suspect fired a shot and then fled the scene in a separate vehicle.
Officials say the inspector quickly moved out of the line of fire and was not injured. His jacket was grazed by a bullet.
Officers located the suspect vehicle near 12th and McKinley around 4 p.m. and attempted to make a stop, according to MPD. They say the driver fled and a pursuit began, ending when the driver lost control near 12th and State and crashed into another vehicle.
The driver, identified by police as a 14-year-old boy, and two passengers - an 11-year-old boy and 16-year-old boy- were arrested after a foot pursuit and taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries.
Police say the suspect vehicle was determined to be stolen and a firearm was recovered.
Criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
