MILWAUKEE (CBS 58)--55 years of paying respect to where we live.  Tuesday is Earth Day, a holiday of sorts, marking an occasion to support and protect our planet.  Founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson from Wisconsin in 1970, this event is now coordinated globally through earthday.org.  This year's theme is "Our power, our planet." There's so much you can do to get involved on a day like this, including recycling, picking up litter, spending some time at a local, state, or national park, or volunteering at a community garden.
