Vietnam veteran Amos Cook awarded a Purple Heart

A former marine was honored today for his dedication and service to our country.

"I never really thought this many people would come out, The County Executive and all, I really appreciate it."

Vietnam War veteran Amos Cook was awarded A Purple Heart. The medal is given to members of the military who are wounded during combat.

Amos tells us he turned down a Purple Heart when he was serving because he said he'd rather get the medal after finishing his tour.
