MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Just a day after Super Tuesday, Vice President Kamala Harris visited Wisconsin to tout job growth and apprenticeship programs.

At a construction site, Harris toured a future Madison Metro bus depot.

During her brief remarks, she highlighted a new executive order signed earlier in the day aimed at creating more apprenticeship programs to bolster the workforce.

It comes as the Biden administration is trying to ease concerns over the economy this election cycle.

"The apprenticeship programs they created for young people to enter a profession, enter a career, that means a very high quality life for themselves and their families, " said Harris.

Her trip comes hours after Republican Nikki Haley dropped out of the presidential race, making way for former President Donald Trump to become the presumptive GOP nominee.

When asked about the state of the race, Harris told reporters her strategy to defeat Trump in Wisconsin is "one vote at a time."

This marks the second trip by the Biden campaign this week. On Sunday, First Lady Jill Biden held a rally in Waukesha launching the "Women for Biden-Harris" coalition.

In response to the visits, Republicans called out the Biden agenda as a failure.

"The Biden administration and Democratic governance has been a disaster for Americans," said Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI). "It's put us on a destructive path, and I don't know what Vice President Harris can say to console Wisconsinites who are feeling the pain from their failed policies."

This was the vice president's second visit to Wisconsin this year. She held anevent in Waukesha County to mark the 51st anniversary of Roe v. Wade in January.

Johnson and Brian Schimming, chairman of the Republican Party of Wisconsin, said they expect Trump to visit Wisconsin closer to the April primary.

While in town, Harris also visited the Democratic Party of Wisconsin headquarters downtown and stopped by her childhood home on the west side of Madison.
