Warmer air leads to our next chance for storms

NOW: Warmer air leads to our next chance for storms
NEXT:

The Dense Fog Advisory from early this morning has expired as visibility has improved across the region.  While some are seeing sunshine to finish up this morning, others have a much more overcast view, as low level stratus clouds continue to move in.  Cloud cover along with a more easterly wind will keep temps into the 40s for today for our southern areas, but a touch cooler closer to the Lake, and warmer to the north for areas experiencing more sun.  Lower-level clouds do allow for the possibility of a passing sprinkle this afternoon as clouds creep in for all of us, but most should stay dry.  A better chance for rain will develop tomorrow.

After midnight tonight, scattered showers do become possible moving in from the south and then become heavier more consistently by the late morning. Rain chances should wrap up in the afternoon, and temps again will be in the 40s.

A warm front will start to lift Friday morning, allowing for a breezy south wind to develop which should help temps get back closer to 60 degrees.  By this time, a system developing near Missouri will have the potential (with the warmer air), to become stronger.

Right now, SE WI is under a Level 2/5 Slight Risk for areas farther southwest and under a Level 1/5 Marginal Risk areas north for potential severe weather.  Stronger storms and heavier rain look to see their best chance to move in around the lunch hour with our main risks being hail and gusty winds.  A better chance for tornadic activity -- while it cannot be completely ruled out -- will be farther into Southwest WI.

Storms should lull in the late evening, before returning overnight into Saturday morning.  Behind this system, a weak cold front will then drop into place cooling us off into the 30s early Sunday morning before the warmer weather returns to finish the weekend.
