Attempted armed robbery and carjacking suspects lead Waukesha police on foot chase, arrests made
WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- According to the Waukesha Police Department, on Wednesday, Oct. 12 around 5:25 p.m. officers responded to an armed robbery in progress near Sunset and West.
Police say that two would-be robbers hopped out of their car flashing a gun and attempted to rob someone and take their car. They were unable to take the person's car and sped off.
Police were able to pursue the suspects until their car crashed near West and Hoover.
Four people ran from the car and police chased after them on foot. Three people were caught and taken into custody. A fourth person remained at large.
Police set up a perimeter around Mindiola Park to search for the fourth person, who reportedly was armed.
Authorities searched for five hours through businesses, junk yards, storage yards and wooded areas.
Around 10:15 p.m., a K-9 unit found the person hiding in an old truck that was hidden in heavy brush. The K-9 was able to get the person.
Four adult men who do not live in the City of Waukesha were arrested and transported to the Waukesha County Jail.
Police are recommending the following charges to the Waukesha County District Attorney’s Office: armed robbery, obstructing, possession of narcotics, eluding and attempted theft.
No officers were injured during this incident. No citizens were injured during this incident.
