Wauwatosa police: Driver shoots another car in road rage incident near Harmonee Bridge
CBS 58 WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) — Police in Wauwatosa are investigating after a road rage-related shooting Tuesday afternoon, June 2.
According to the Wauwatosa Police Department, it happened around 4 p.m. on Harwood Avenue near Kavanaugh Place.
Two cars, a BMW and a Honda, were travelling next to each other exiting the Harmonee Bridge, onto Harwood. The BMW in the right lane tried to merge into the left lane but was unable to due to traffic congestion.
According to police, the driver of the BMW then fired a gun at the Honda in the left lane. A bullet went through the rear passenger window and exited through the driver's side door.
Police said no one was injured, and they haven't made any arrests.
Several neighbors in the area told CBS 58 they often see reckless driving near Harmonee and Harwood, but a shooting is scary.
"It's crazy. Hearing what happened yesterday - that's just taking it to the nth degree. If it's happened once, it's going to happen again," said Jill Seebantz, who owns Body Awareness Center, right across from the bridge's exit on Harwood.
Though she wasn't home when it happened, Seebantz wasn't surprised to hear about it. She sees aggressive driving on a daily basis, specifically during rush hour.
"I have been here one day where there were at least five accidents here - in the one day," she explained. "Cars just barreling through, constant accidents, cars beeping horns all the time, you can hear the yelling. It's just every day."
Ideally, Seebantz said she would appreciate more traffic patrols in the area, along with better signage for drivers.
Wauwatosa police are still investigating the shooting.
