‘We’re hanging in there’: Summerfest adjusting to the heat
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- As the heat continues this week in Milwaukee, Summerfest is adjusting to the higher temperatures.
On Thursday, July 2 and Friday, July 3, fans are allowed to bring in one factory sealed plastic water bottle that is 20 ounces or less.
There will also be misting stations throughout the grounds and two Milwaukee County buses to help people cool down.
“We brought our water. It’s good having the city buses here, a nice added help to jump in there to cool down a little bit,” Summerfest fan William Koller said. “It’s a little rough but we’re hanging in there.”
Performers are also adjusting to the heat as well, including Russ Trawycki who is a member of the Milwaukee Hittaz drumline.
“I do what I can to keep cool, with the sweat band and the hat and everything, but most of the time we just drip and wipe it off when you’re done playing,” Trawycki said.
The drumline plays every day and into the evening, no matter the temperatures they are in.
“We’re on the threshold right now. We have a parade scheduled for Saturday, and so my consideration is to keep the line fresh and whether or not we’ll play as long as we normally do that, or maybe we’ll take a little bit more of a rest,” Trawycki said.
Madeline Ponchillia is from Ohio and was at Summerfest for the first time on Thursday.
“It’s well organized and I like all the stations they have to help keep us cool,” Ponchillia said. “Grab everything we can to stay prepared, stay cool.”
