Wet snow and some rain likely on Friday

Friday's system is trending a bit farther south, which means lower snow totals across Sheboygan and Fond du Lac counties and higher confidence in 2-4" of snow across southern Dodge, Jefferson, Walworth, Waukesha, and away from the lake in Racine and Kenosha counties. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for these areas beginning at 3am Friday and ending at 6pm.

After battling dry air during the early morning hours, wet snow will overspread the area from the west between 5-8am.

Some rain may mix in lakeside, but the dominant precipitation type between 9am-Noon will be wet snow that could be moderate to heavy at times. This is the time period that will have the most impact as snow accumulates quickly, making roads slick and causing low visibility.

Snow will become lighter Friday afternoon and start to mix with rain again lakeside as temperatures continue to warm. Precipitation will wrap up by the evening hours besides a little patchy drizzle.

2" to 4" of wet snow is expected for a majority of southern Wisconsin. Lakesides areas and folks far north/northeast will end up with lower totals of 1-2". Some spots in this area may struggle to even reach an inch.

Travel during the morning, especially late morning commuters will deal with the worst of the road conditions especially away from the lake. Roads will likely improve to wet/slippery spots by the later afternoon commute as temps warm and rain/wet snow becomes lighter.
