William Contreras wins NL Silver Slugger Award

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- For the first time in Milwaukee Brewers franchise history, there is a catcher that has been named a Silver Slugger award winner.

William Contreras wins the award in the National League. While he is the first catcher to win the award, he is the 22nd overall Brewers player to win. He is the first award winner since Christian Yelich won the award in back-to-back seasons in 2018 and 2019.

Contreras turned in his best offensive season in his first year in Milwaukee.

The 25-year-old, also named Brewers team MVP, led all MLB qualifying catchers in batting average (.289), slugging percentage (.457), on-base plus slugging percentage (.824), and doubles (38). He led National League catchers in hits (156) and RBI (78).
