All of southeast Wisconsin is now under a Winter Storm Watch from early Tuesday morning through early Wednesday morning as heavy, wet accumulating snow is likely.
Light snow begins to move in Monday night and will be steady to start Tuesday morning. Moderate impacts are expected during the morning commute as roads become snow covered.
Snow will pick up in intensity around midday and continue at that intensity through the afternoon into the evening. Snow will become lighter and taper off Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning. Major travel impacts are expected Tuesday afternoon and evening as the snow piles up. Low visibility and snow covered roads will be issues.
A majority of southeast Wisconsin will pick up 5 to 8 inches of snow with isolated higher totals pushing 9-10" well away from the lake. The biggest uncertainty are totals near the lakefront. Lake Michigan is still 41°, so snow may be extremely slushy or mix with rain at times, especially with air temps in the 35-37° range. Any shift in the track of this system will shift snow totals, so check back for updates over the next 36 hours.
Wind gusts will also pick up in Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday with gusts between 25-35 mph. With the snow expected to coat branches and power lines, we can't rule out spotty power outages as the wind increases. Download the CBS 58 Ready Weather App for video updates leading up to the storm.
