MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- At Washington Park, an early voting block party encouraged people to register and cast their ballots during Wisconsin's early voting period. In-person early voting begins in the state on Oct. 22nd.

In 86 days, voters will flock to the polls to cast their ballot for the next president of the United States.

“This is what people have died for, frankly, for people to have the right to vote and their vote does count," said Democratic Rep. Robin Kelly from Illinois.

Democrats want to remind people they can cast their ballot sooner.

“If you’re the person who’s gonna be bringing in food to feed the volunteers, you need to have voted already," said Rep. Gwen Moore, who represents Wisconsin's fourth congressional district. "It gives us a way to measure where our effort outta go and how much effort and intensity we need to put in certain areas.”

In 2016, Former President Donald Trump won Wisconsin. In 2020, President Joe Biden narrowly flipped the state. Earlier this week, Harris and Walz were at a rally in Eau Claire. The Republican nominee for Vice President, Senator JD Vance, also held his own event there.

“I know elections where people won by just a little or lost by just a little," said Kelly.

That's why Kelly says Democratic volunteers from Illinois will be in Wisconsin to help canvas and keep the state blue.

"Wisconsin, let's get out to vote, you can make a difference, you have the power," said Kelly.
