MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Amy Wirtz of Fond du Lac and her daughter Emily VanDyke of Milwaukee completed a 157-mile, six-day relay run through Utah in April as part of the MS Run the US Relay, a coast-to-coast run from Santa Monica, Calif. to New York City raising funds and awareness for multiple sclerosis.
The two joined us on Monday, May 4 to talk about the relay, their preparation and what the run means to the MS community.
The pair ran their segment from April 18-23 in southern Utah. VanDyke was inspired to join after watching her mother run more than 1,000 miles and raise nearly $80,000 for the cause over four years. After crossing the finish line, VanDyke got engaged.
More information about the nonprofit behind the run can be found by clicking here.
