Wisconsin native Ty Majeski battling to repeat as NASCAR Trucks Champion
DARLINGTON, SC (CBS 58) -- The NASCAR Trucks playoffs started over the weekend.
"We closed the regular season off on a really strong note." said NASCAR driver Ty Majeski. "I think 3 of the last 4 races were top five and you know we really put together a string of some good races. And got some consistency under our belt and I feel like we're returning to that championship form."
Corey Heim with his 8th victory of the season at Darlington, one shy of the series record. But Wisconsin native Ty Majeski finishes fourth.
"After the poor season I felt like we had for our standards," said Majeski. "We still ended up fourth in regular season points which was a great recovery. For a while there we were out of the top ten. We recovered really nicely and put some great races together at the right time. It was sort of mid-season when we were kind of in the middle of our slump. And we said 'Hey, like let's look in the mirror. We're the defending champions. We belong here.'"
And he's the defending series champion.
"I feel like our season really started to turn around. Even though it was a slow crawl in that direction," Majeski said. "We are to the point where we need to be heading into the playoffs. We have some great racetracks coming up for us. Places that we've run well in the past. Had shots to win in the past. Or have won in the past. So, I feel like the schedule lays out really nice for us. It's very short track dominant in the playoffs and that's obviously our strength. So, I'm hoping we can, you know, we're poised to make another run at it and excited to see what we can do."
