MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- For the past five years, "Youth Victory Over Violence" week has focused on teaching young people skills in conflict resolution and community safety.

Wednesday's event was the 'Talk it out Town Hall' held at Gee's Clippers.

It was a panel discussion focused on healing from traumatic situations, such as experiencing domestic violence or drug abuse.

CBS 58 talked to one of local school staff member, who thinks this event helps students who may be struggling at home.

" What we want to do is hear them out. What we wanna do is provide a platform and a space where they can get educated and encouraged on healing opportunities and know they have people in the community who want to hear them out," said Branden Joseph, Dr. Howard Fuller Collegiate Academy.

Al of these events are leading up to the 'Youth Walk Against Violence' which starts downtown and ends at Victory of Violence Park.
