MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Monday, we reported that Milwaukee's Common Council was considering a zoning change that would open the door for construction of a new Deer District hotel.
On Tuesday, that zoning change stalled at City Hall.
"You put the gauntlet down with all this legal business and historical record, and you opened the door and we gotta hold it, so there's a motion to hold. Are there any objections to that motion?" said Alderman Robert Bauman.
The zoning committee has delayed a decision on the zoning change for the proposed Moxy Hotel, which would add more than 150 rooms on the site once occupied by the old Bradley Center.
As we reported Monday, there are objects to the hotel plan.
Several labor unions have accused the developer NCG Hospitality of trying to bust a union at The Trade Hotel, just a few doors down.
Others oppose the plan because they think the city could attract a larger hotel plan that would produce more revenue.
For now, the new hotel is on hold.
