11-year-old girl dies after rollover crash in Fond du Lac County
CBS 58 EDEN, Wis. (CBS 58) — An 11-year-old girl died after a single-vehicle rollover crash Wednesday afternoon in Fond du Lac County.
According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to County Highway V near Lime Road in the Town of Eden for reports of a crash.
Authorities said four people were inside the minivan: a 29-year-old driver, a 15-year-old, an 11-year-old and an 8-year-old.
The driver, who is from Fond du Lac, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. An 8-year-old from Fond du Lac and a 15-year-old from Campbellsport were also transported by ambulance with minor injuries.
The 11-year-old girl, from North Fond du Lac, was flown by medical helicopter to Children's Wisconsin, where she later died from her injuries.
A preliminary investigation found the minivan was traveling north on County Highway V when the driver lost control. The vehicle crossed the centerline, entered the west ditch, struck an embankment and became airborne before rolling several times and coming to rest.
County Highway V was closed between County Highway K and County Highway B for about five hours while crews responded and investigators processed the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
