16-year-old identified in fatal Harbor District shooting case

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — A 16-year-old charged in the killing of a man in Milwaukee's Harbor District has been identified after a judge ruled his case will move to adult court.

Breontae Tyler is charged with felony murder, operating a vehicle without the owner's consent and arson in connection with the April death of 35-year-old David Krause.

Police said Krause's girlfriend dropped him off at a gas station following an argument about his drinking.

According to investigators, Tyler and several other teenagers were driving stolen vehicles when they picked up Krause after he offered to pay for gas.

Police said the group stopped several blocks away after discussing plans to rob him.

Krause reportedly attempted to enter the Harbor Room Bar, but investigators said he was pulled backward by his backpack and shot at close range.

Police said the teenagers fled the scene. The vehicle was later found burned.

Tyler is being held on a $100,000 bond.
