2 charged, accused of shooting at MPD officers during high-speed pursuit

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Criminal charges have been filed against two people accused of shooting at officers during a high-speed pursuit in Milwaukee. 

Afrisawn Dedrick, 21, is charged with the following: 

  • Attempted first degree intentional homicide - as party to a crime 
  • Endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon 
  • Drive or operate a vehicle without owner's consent 
  • Flee or elude an officer 
  • Bail jumping (3 counts) 

Tysheonna Jones, 21, is charged with the following: 

  • Attempted first degree intentional homicide - as party to a crime 
  • Endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon 

The incident happened Friday, Jan. 6, and began in Sherman Park, when Milwaukee police officers witnessed a vehicle leave the area at a high rate of speed as the squad approached. The vehicle continued to drive recklessly and officers attempted to stop the driver. Officials say a pursuit ensued and the occupants of the vehicle fired several shots at officers near 100th Street and Capitol Drive.

The chase was terminated by Milwaukee police. 

It was determined the vehicle was stolen out of West Bend and later recovered unoccupied in Milwaukee.

According to police, an investigation led police to a residence in Wisconsin Rapids. A search warrant was executed and Dedrick and Jones were located and arrested. A firearm was also recovered.
