Thoughtful, gracious, and kind, a big Disney lover. That's how Alex Mogensen describes his wife of four years, Erin Mogensen.
"She was my other half, losing her is a huge blow to not only myself, but to our family," said Alex Mogensen, her husband.
Moving forward, Nov. 2 will be a sad reminder of the incredible loss Erin Mogensen's family suffered in 2023. But Nov. 2 had already been an on the family calendar.
It's the couple's wedding anniversary.
"Yesterday was our four-year anniversary. I saw her that morning. I was working night shifts. So, I said goodbye to her, and she kissed me good night at 8:00 a.m. and that was the last time I saw her," said Alex Mogenson.
Alex said he and Erin planned a getaway this weekend, and it came with extra meaning.
Erin was in her first trimester, with their first baby.
"She was excited this year. She was seven weeks pregnant, so we were really excited to start a family. We were planning on her being a stay-at-home mom," said Alex Mogensen.
According to the medical examiner's report, the baby did not survive. Milwaukee police told us on Nov. 3 that they were able to locate this man, seen on surveillance running through a gas station parking lot after the accident.
The 20-year-old man has been arrested and criminal charges are pending. As they wait, the family is holding onto memories. Erin loved to cook. Her pulled pork, her braised beef and pot roast were tops, as was her kind heart.
"Someone who would think more about others than herself. She was always looking to help other people," said Alex Mogensen.
The Milwaukee Medical Examiner's report said the family learned of the accident immediately. Erin's phone was set up with an SOS that sent an alert to her father's phone. Technology working in times of crisis.
