GRAFTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A birthday celebration turned deadly in Grafton on Saturday morning, May 6 when police were called to a home near 17th and Falls Road around 4:45 a.m. for four overdoses.

Grafton police said adults between the ages of 29 to 32 overdosed on cocaine laced with fentanyl.

One person has died -- identified by police as 28-year-old Nick Hamilton -- and another person is in critical condition after she was mauled by a dog. The two others are expected to survive.

The group was partying at a bar in Saukville where they bought cocaine.

Chief Jeff Caponera of the Grafton Police Department said the call was made by one of the four who overdosed.

"He noticed that one person was not breathing, and then noticed another person had part of her face mauled off by a dog and the other person who was in a restroom was not breathing as well," said Chief Caponera.

The chief said fentanyl overdoses have consistently been increasing in the affluent community. He said he's noticed an uptick in the last six months.

He shared his message to teens and young adults.

"If you're looking to just experiment, if you're looking at a recreational use, I would think again."

Chief Caponera said they are investigating what exactly transpired and have no one in custody as of yet.

According to police, four people, all in their twenties, were taken to local hospitals after they allegedly overdosed on cocaine. One person is listed in grave condition, one is in critical condition, having surgery after a dog in the home mauled her face, and two others are being treated and are expected to survive.

Police say someone in the home reported four people had overdosed and CPR was being performed on one of the people. When officers got there, they administered several doses of Narcan to three of the people. Officers also noticed that a woman had major facial wounds from what they later learned was from a dog attack.

Grafton Police Chief Jeff Caponera said this investigation is ongoing and there are many unknown details to investigate. He said, "We do know that the group was partying together at a bar in the Saukville area earlier. We have information that the drugs were purchased at the bar."

Police investigators found a lot of drugs and drug paraphernalia inside the home and are looking to get a search warrant to find additional evidence. There were three dogs in the home that were taken and placed in quarantine at the Ozaukee Humane Society.
