After holiday weekend downpours, we briefly dry out to start the new week
Each day over the holiday weekend saw at least some rain with downpours and storms. We had some heavy rain in the morning of July 4th then Saturday saw a few scattered showers and storms and so did Sunday, especially in the morning through early afternoon. Sunday's rainfall surpassed 1" in some areas with much of southeast Wisconsin getting 0.25-0.75" of rain.
Even though we had lots of downpours over the last three days we are still behind on precipitation for the year. The average precip is over 18" by this time of the year. Right now for 2025 we are sitting at over an inch and a half behind average at just over 16.50". Last year we had over 25" of precipitation by this point of the year.
After a dry start to the new work week on Monday we do have a good chance for scattered showers and storms for Tuesday. A few waves of the storms are possible in the morning, afternoon and evening. In between the rain chances we may have a few hours of dry time. Wednesday also has a chance for showers and storms but less of a chance than Tuesday.
