EAA AirVenture wraps up week of aviation thrills in Oshkosh

OSHKOSH, Wis. (CBS 58) — EAA AirVenture wrapped up Sunday after another week of airshows, aviation history and family-friendly entertainment that drew hundreds of thousands of visitors to Oshkosh.

Throughout the week, attendees had the opportunity to get up close to aircraft ranging from vintage warbirds and homebuilt planes to the latest military jets, while pilots from around the world put on daily aerial demonstrations.

CBS 58 was there for some of the biggest attractions, including performances by the Royal Air Force Red Arrows, who concluded their U.S. tour with a flyover featuring red, white and blue smoke in honor of the American flag.

The crowd also watched an F-35B Lightning II demonstrate its short takeoff and vertical landing capabilities, showcasing one of the aircraft's signature features.

The week concluded Saturday night with AirVenture's annual nighttime airshow, featuring aerobatic performances followed by a fireworks and synchronized drone display.

The annual fly-in convention once again brought aviation enthusiasts from around the world to Wisconsin, capping off another successful year for what is considered the world's largest aviation gathering.
