Bird flu case confirmed at commercial poultry flock in Sheboygan Co.

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- In Sheboygan County, bird flu has been confirmed in a commercial poultry flock, according to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection. 

The DATCP says the affected premises has been quarantined and the birds will be killed to prevent the spread. 

The agency says the birds from the flock will not enter the food system. Exposed workers are being monitored. 

The DATCP says the risk to general public remains low. DATCP and the US Department of Agriculture Animal Health Officials are responding together.
