Bond set at $2M for Kenosha man accused of killing 37-year-old woman
CBS 58/Kenosha Police Department KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 42-year-old Kenosha man is facing multiple charges in the murder of his ex-girlfriend.
On April 25, shortly before 4 p.m., a 911 caller stated he observed a man -- later identified as Dale Dallia -- strangling a man around the neck while on top of him. The caller reportedly saw Dallia beating the man with his fists and feet and believed Dallis may have killed the man.
Police arrived at the scene and located Dallia inside a vehicle trying to leave the area and took him into custody. As they were doing so, authorities say Dallia turned to the victim and said, "you're lucky I didn't kill you," and further stated he hoped the victim died.
According to a criminal complaint, inside the home near the intersection of 57th Street and 13th Avenue, police located 37-year-old Stephanie Birn dead. The complaint says the officer noted there was obvious signs of a struggle inside the home including blood on the floor, walls, carpet, countertop and back door.
While in custody, Dallia reportedly made statements while in the back of a squad car including:
- "That's what you get being a [expletive]."
- "I didn't [expletive] kill her."
- "I'm going to prison for the rest of my life."
At one point, the complaint says Dallia heard radio communication between officers and when they noted Birn was not conscious and not breathing, he laughed and said, "I don't care about you dead."
Dallia was taken to the Kenosha Police Department, where he reportedly head butted an officer and made threats to another.
An autopsy was done on Birn, and determined she had suffered 16 stabs wounds, and multiple blunt force injuries.
According to the complaint, the 41-year-old man beaten by Dallia suffered bruising to his torso, lungs and heart, a broken nose, fractures around both eyes and an injury to his back.
