Brewers drop Game 1 of NLWC series

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) - The Milwaukee Brewers enter the 2024 postseason looking for their first series win since 2018.

The New York Mets aren't going to make that an easy accomplishment.

In a back-and-forth game, the Brewers dropped Game 1 8-4 and now trail the series 1-0.

Freddy Peralta got the start and pitched four innings, with five strikeouts, two hits, three runs, and a walk.

In the fifth inning, with the Brewers up 4-3, Joel Payamps and Aaron Ashby could not keep the Mets off the base paths in a 5-run fifth inning. All of the Mets runs came with two outs as they took an 8-4 lead. The Brewers did not register a hit from there.

Brice Turang was 3-5 with two runs and Jackson Chourio was 2-4 with a RBI in his first career playoff game. William Contreras and Rhys Hoskins also added RBI.

Game 2 is coming up on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 6:38 p.m. on ESPN. The Brewers have to win to avoid being eliminated in the postseason.
