MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A big name on the basketball court made a big impact at a school on Milwaukee's north side Monday, Dec. 4.

Khris Middleton of the Milwaukee Bucks visited MPS's Benjamin Franklin School, as new winter coats were distributed to more than 350 students.

"A lot of people are in need in certain different ways, and small things like a coat can go a long way, especially for kids, especially in the city of Milwaukee," Middleton said.

It's the fifth year Middleton has partnered with United Healthcare to distribute coats in the city.

The coats were funded with a $20,000 grant from United Healthcare toward the Dreambuilders Foundation; a nonprofit that works with pro athletes to help kids with what they need to succeed.

"These opportunities help us serve the needs of all our students," said Angela Fleming, Benjamin Franklin School principal. "It gives them that hope and that prosperity to get the things that they need within these cold winter months."

The visit is part of Middleton's yearly "12 Days of Khrismas" initiative, where he commits to 12 acts of service.

"It's extremely important to give back to the communities that have supported me for so long, and that I live in, that my family lives in, that my kids were born in," Middleton said.

His visits help give back and give kids confidence.

"He was cool, he was inspirational, and he told us to never give up on your dreams," said 5th grader, Raphael Gardner.

"My goal is to become an NBA player like him," said 5th grader, Jaden Andino-Williams.
