Busias XOXO Polish Market offers traditional treats and community in Racine
CBS 58 RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Busias XOXO is more than a market with traditional Polish treats and breads: it’s a space where Amy Valukas is building community and keeping traditions alive.
Now that Valukas is a busia herself, you may be greeted by a busia when you come to the store, but it was named after Valukas’s busia who taught her how to bake and love baking.
“My buhia taught me how to bake so I would be, maybe four or five, sitting in the kitchen watching her. She never measured anything, so when she passed away when I was in my 20s, re-creating the recipes she had was really hard,” she said.
The store has an artisan makers space on one side, and they also offer classes for everything from journaling to kolaczki making.
You can find a list of upcoming classes here.
