Café Benelux reopens with new spring menu and added seating
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --Café Benelux has been closed for the last five weeks for a remodel. The restaurant opened in 2011, and staff says it was time to upgrade the space as well as the food and drink menu.
"We have a really entree salad program for those patio dinners and a lot of sharables," said Molly Canan, the director of events for Café Benelux.
Inside, the bar was upgraded and offers 53 taps, with a focus on Belguim beer. It's one of four places in the country that has Chimay beers on tap.
"The beautiful new marble bar can seat double what it previously could," said Canan. "So, we're really excited to have that community aspect."
The TVs were designed to fit the European-style atmosphere. They'll play big sporting events, but you may just see clips from employees' visits to Belgium.
"It's a lot of storytelling in every piece of this restaurant, and all of our restaurants. We have a lot of great relationships with Belgium brewers and with our food vendors," said Canan. "We do a lot of traveling for inspiration for that relational piece."
Café Benelux is hosting a Chimay tasting later this month. You can meet Pierre Hensenne with Chimay.
The restaurant is open daily at 8 a.m.
