'Championships all around': Wisconsin sports fans enjoying whirlwind week, hopeful for continued success
WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Leff's Lucky Town in Wauwatosa was filled with Packers fans Thursday night, ready to cheer on the Green and Gold as they would any other week. This week, however, has given them extra reason to celebrate.
"It's pretty exciting," said Grant Bales. "We've got the Bucks' season coming around the corner. Packers in action, a lot of young guys playing, really excited to see what happens with their season, and then the Brewers just won the NL Central, playoff baseball starting next week."
A quick recap:
The Brewers kicked off the excitement Tuesday night, Sept. 26, with an NL Central championship. The Crew will be in the post-season for the fifth time in six years and will be hosting a Wild Card series at American Family Field Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday if needed.
On Wednesday, Sept. 27, the Milwaukee Bucks shocked the basketball world trading away Grayson Allen and Jrue Holiday to bring in arguably one of the greatest point guards in basketball, Damian Lillard, to join Giannis and company for the 2023/24 season.
Thursday night, Sept. 28, the 2-1 Packers host the Detroit Lions, the Green and Gold looking to be a force in the NFC North under the leadership of head coach Matt Lafleur and first-year-starter Jordan Love.
While no post-season success for any of the teams is guaranteed, James Findlay is enjoying the ride along the way.
"We've got some good stuff going on in Wisconsin," Findlay said. "We're very excited to be fans right now."
Findlay and his fellow fans are hopeful the positive momentum will continue, starting with the Brewers' final series of the regular season, three home games against the Cubs before hosting the Wild Card Series next week.
"For the Brewers, they got to make it to the World Series," Findlay said. "Packers, a little bit brand new, Bucks just did it two years ago but yeah, we're expecting championships all around."
