Cooling sites available throughout the Milwaukee area during Extreme Heat Warning
Pulaski Indoor Pool / Milwaukee County Parks MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee area is under an Extreme Heat Warning from Monday afternoon, June 29 through early Tuesday evening, June 30. Heat indices are expected to reach 105 degrees or higher during the day, with little overnight relief as temperatures stay near 80 degrees after dark.
Limiting time outdoors is advised, but those who are in the heat should stay hydrated, with that advice also applying to pets.
The heat is expected to continue into the Independence Day weekend, when scattered storms could bring some relief.
The City of Milwaukee maintains a list of cooling sites for those looking to escape the heat. Air-conditioned spaces are available at all Milwaukee Public Library branches. Milwaukee County also operates water parks, splash pads, pools and beaches, along with five senior centers offering air-conditioned space for anyone 50 and older.
Some sites may charge fees or have limited hours.
A full list of cooling sites is available on the City of Milwaukee's website, including sites that are not specifically within the city limits of Milwaukee.
