MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The countdown to the 2025 NFL Draft officially begins. On Tuesday, May 14, a themed football -- which started its journey in Detroit -- will arrive in the Milwaukee port via the Lake Express Ferry.

The football will then travel to the Green Bay Packers headquarters. Once the ball arrives at Lambeau Field, the countdown clock officially starts ticking.

"In Green Bay we have something that is really, really special. You'll find a bond between players, coaches, community and fans that sets our state apart and we cannot wait to put the Packer energy centerstage for the entire world to see," said Gov. Tony Evers.

The theme of the ceremonial event was "Pedal to the Draft." Before heading to Green Bay, the draft ball was taken by bike to various Milwaukee landmarks, including the art museum and Summerfest grounds.

"When we finally get to Green Bay, we got about a 14-mile ride. We're going to ride into Green Bay and then pick up the kids that can bring their bikes and we're all going to ride into the atrium in the Packers stadium," said Glenn Schmidt.

The economic impact of the 2025 draft is expected to be major, bringing more than a quarter million visitors to Titletown.

"We know this is a tremendous opportunity to promote our state in a number of different ways but particularly to tourism," said Mark Murphy, Packers President and CEO.

The 2025 NFL Draft takes over the Badger State April 24-26 and is expected to attract around 25,000 people to Green Bay.
