Final Marquette University Law School poll shows VP Harris, Fmr. President Trump in a dead heat in Wisconsin
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- With less than a week until Election Day, Marquette University Law School has released its latest and final poll which shows Vice President Kamala Harris and Fmr. President Donald Trump in a dead heat.
The poll was conducted between October 16-24 and surveyed 834 registered voters, 753 of which are considered likely to vote. It also had a margin of error of +/- 4.4 percentage points.
According to likely voters in Wisconsin, 50% support Harris while 49% support Trump.
But in the previous poll in late September, Harris received 52% while Trump received 48%.
The poll also looked at the Wisconsin senate race, where 51% of likely voters support Democratic incumbent Tammy Baldwin as opposed to the 49% that support GOP candidate Eric Hovde.
The Wisconsin Election Commission reports that, so far, there have been around a million early votes.
Poll experts said even the slightest shift now until Tuesday could tip the race.
"Whether we're talking about the seven swing states, most of which are on a knife's edge, or whether we're talking about just Wisconsin, this is a race that could go either way," said Poll Director Charles Franklin. "The big surprise will be on the day after the election if we find somebody has won by mid-single digits, by five or six points. That would be this year's big surprise. I don't think who wins by a small margin can possibly be a surprise at all."
In 2020, President Biden won Wisconsin by about 1%.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5.
