Germantown officer exposed to fentanyl during traffic stop arrest
CBS 58 GERMANTOWN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Germantown police officer was exposed to fentanyl while arresting two people during a traffic stop Saturday morning, April 25.
Police say that around 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning, officer conducted a traffic stop of a car that didn't have any visible registration plate. During the stop a police K9 sniffed around the car and smelled narcotics inside. While recovering the drugs, an officer was exposed to fentanyl and began experiencing side-effects, causing the officer to administer Narcan.
The officer was brought to a local hospital for treatment.
Since then, they have been treated and returned to duty.
The driver of the car, a 31-year-old man from Sullivan, and the passenger, a 37-year-old Milwaukee woman, were arrested.
The man is facing charges of felony possession of narcotic drugs, several counts of felony jumping and additional drug related charges. The woman is facing misdemeanor charges related to possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.
The case has been referred to the Washington County District Attorney's Office.
