Gov. Tony Evers formally endorses VP Kamala Harris

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A day after President Joe Biden announced that he will not be seeking a second term, Gov. Tony Evers has announced the candidate that he is supporting to receive the Democratic nomination.

Evers formally endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris early Monday, July 22.

In a press release, he expressed his excitement about backing the Harris ticket in November, saying, "Vice President Kamala Harris is a tenacious leader who has vigorously defended our democracy, fought to protect the freedoms we hold dear, and worked tirelessly to do the right thing and deliver for us."

He added, "I’m excited today to endorse Vice President Harris as our nominee for President of the United States. She can beat Donald Trump, and I’m going to do everything I can between now and November 5th to help make sure she does."
