MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Opening Day is right around the corner and the Milwaukee Brewers’ grounds crew is making sure American Family Field will be ready.
Director of Grounds Ryan Woodley said the roof will be closed for the game on Thursday, April 1.

Field preparations have been underway since the season ended in 2020.
“Hopefully it’s the greenest spot in Wisconsin right now,” Woodley said. “I know our guys on the crew are excited to have fans back here.”
Woodley said heated blankets were put on the field in December and removed March 15. The stadium’s name change also impacted the process.
“It was a different unique year, switching out the signs and stuff this year we had the roof open when normally we wouldn’t. We were able to close it for when we did get really cold temps a month ago,” he said. “Everything right now is in good shape for Opening Day.”
The Brewers take on the Minnesota Twins on April 1 at 1:10 p.m.
