8:00 pm Update: Isolated rain and storms still possible through this evening. Severe storms are possible.
Updated: 8:00 p.m. June 17, 2026
A tornado watch has been issued for Walworth and Jefferson counties until 9 pm. That's in anticipation of this line of showers and storms moving east to southeast.
A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Walworth, Jefferson, and Waukesha counties for the possibility of 50 mph winds. These storms could produce damaging winds and isolated tornadoes. These storms are moving around 50 mph.
Plan on storms to move into Milwaukee around 8:30 pm. They could impact the Summerfest grounds.

A complex of storms continues to hold together as it moves across southwestern Wisconsin. These storms have a radar indicated tornado warning on it for Iowa county.
We don't expect this complex to hold its strength as it moves east. The atmosphere hasn't been able to recover sufficiently.
Closer to home, scattered rain and some embedded storms are possible through 10 pm; however, they aren't expected to become severe.

A couple showers have managed to pop in these cloudy cool conditions this afternoon. Have a look at the latest radar:
No lightning overhead but some brief moderate downpours likely as they travel east. Further back to the west near La Crosse has a cluster of stronger storms within an area under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch. That goes until 8pm. While these storms slowly work our way, we anticipate they lose a bit of steam. As always, we will continue to monitor conditions with additional updates as needed. The biggest threat for severe weather is within the alerts that you see here and locally we do not anticipate any watches this evening.Updated: 1:30 p.m. June 17, 2026
Here's a look at the rainfall from this morning:
Milwaukee picked up .41" of rain and others across central and southern sections of the viewing area found similar totals. North of the metro did not find as much for accumulation closer to one to two tenths of an inch. But we're not done with rain chances today. However, the threat for severe weather looks much lower after our morning rain and the severe that set up shop in central Illinois. That said, we are still watching a couple things on radar. What's in progress across southern Wisconsin likely continues as just light to some moderate pockets of rain. Back closer to the twin cities could swing a few storms through the area this evening. Stay with us for updates as needed.

The steady rain is winding down from west to east across the area late this morning.
The threat of severe weather is now looking lower with much of the afternoon activity staying to our south. That said, we will continue to monitor radar trends as some data still points to isolated afternoon and evening storms. Here's what it looks like for the rest of the day for chances of rain and storms:
Updated: 10:11 a.m. June 17, 2026
The area of steady rain that has been falling for most of southeast Wisconsin is starting to end in our western counties. It will likely take a few hours for everyone to dry out with some still seeing some steady rain through noon on Wednesday. There are some gusty winds on the backside of the rain as well over 30 mph.
More scattered strong to severe storms are still possible in the afternoon and evening hours and the severe risks outlined below are still on track.
Temperatures may be a bit tricky on this Wednesday. Unless we see some sunshine during the upcoming dry period, most areas likely stay in the 60s and some northern counties could only reach the upper 50s to around 60. Mid 60s look pretty good for Milwaukee. The best chance for someone to hit 70 would be in our southern counties near the IL border.

Rain is approaching from the west Wednesday morning. Steady rain is likely during the morning hours but severe storms, at least during the morning, are expected to stay to our south. Parts of eastern Iowa are seeing severe thunderstorms and are under watches and warnings to start Wednesday. The steady rain could linger into the early afternoon hours when some of the storms could be a bit stronger.
Heavy rain is likely on Wednesday with most of southeast Wisconsin getting between a half inch to 1.50" of rain. Higher rain totals could happen in any storms that become strong to severe.
We could see some strong to severe storms in southeast Wisconsin, mainly in the afternoon and evening. There's no change to our severe risk locally for today with areas south of I-94 under a Level 2 Slight risk and northern counties in a Level 1 Marginal Risk. The warm front is expected to stay in northern IL and severe storms won't get much farther north than that. The bigger area for severe storms and possibly a tornado outbreak are in Illinois and Indiana where a Level 4 Moderate Risk has been issued.
IF we do see any strong to severe storms (which is an if), an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out towards the IL border. Otherwise, hail and gusty wind would be the main threats with some brief street flooding also possible.
