Howard earns Big East weekly honors

NEW YORK – Marquette guard Markus Howard has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Villanova forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl has been selected BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Both players helped their teams to 2-0 weeks. Howard has become the BIG EAST’s all-time leader with 12 Player of the Week awards. Robinson-Earl averaged a double-double for a second straight week while earning Freshman honors.

BIG EAST Player of the Week

Markus Howard, Marquette, G, Sr. – Howard averaged 38.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists while helping the Golden Eagles to wins over Xavier (85-63) and at Georgetown (84-80). The senior had 35 points against the Musketeers and 42 points versus the Hoyas, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:21 remaining. Howard leads the nation in scoring with a 28.2 average and owns a 31.7 mark in BIG EAST play. His 42-point effort at Georgetown lifted him to eighth place on the league’s all-time scoring list in BIG EAST games with 1,260 points.
