‘It’s definitely miserable’: Frustration continues over road construction in SE Wisconsin
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) - Starting on Friday night, part of the Mitchell Interchange will close until Sunday morning.
The ramp from southbound I-43/94 to 1-894 westbound will close, along with two lanes going south from Howard Ave. to the interchange.
The latest closure is part of a massive list of road construction projects in the southeast Wisconsin area, and drivers are getting more impatient.
“Miserable, it’s definitely miserable, it really is complicated when you try to navigate towards downtown or navigate towards work, they ripped everything apart all at the same time,” Brookfield resident AJ Hamedi said.
Hamedi has a son who is getting ready to attend college at Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) and the family is unsure if the commute is worth it.
“I’ve got a kid that’s about to start college, he wants to go to MSOE and is he going to commute, does he have to stay, I think this time around he might have to stay at the dorms,” Hamedi said. “Everywhere there seems like there’s orange construction cones.”
Joey Zastrow is a college student living in Oconomowoc and is growing restless with the traffic that blooms from the construction.
“It’s a terrible drive, it makes everything so much longer,” Zastrow said. “By the time I graduate college they’ll still be doing all that stuff.”
