Komen's annual Sneakers & Pearls gala and BigWig celebration raises funds for breast health services
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Komen Wisconsin is hosting its annual gala tonight. It always draws a big crowd to support the fight against breast cancer here in southeast Wisconsin.
The theme of this year's gala is Sneakers & Pearls. Natalie Shepherd is wearing hers -- she's also the emcee of the event at The Factory on Barclay in Walker's Point.
The gala is a chance for people to dress up, come out and support all of the work Komen Wisconsin does in the fight against breast cancer.
One of the other things happening Friday night is the culmination of this year's Big Wig campaign. For the last month, 12 people have been wearing pink wigs around town to raise money for Komen and to start conversations. Some of the Big Wigs even decorated their offices, like Tosa Dental.
The Biggest Wig will get crowed at the end of the night.
We talked to one of those Big Wig's and Natalie's co-emcee for the night, Elizabeth Kay from 99.1 The Mix.
She has a family history of breast cancer that prompted her to make some big decisions for her health.
