Lt. Gov. Barnes to join WisDOT Secretary Thompson Friday in Sun Prairie to launch new statewide safety campaign

SUN PRARIE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A new statewide traffic safety campaign will be launched by state leaders Friday, Oct. 15 in Sun Prairie.

Officials announced Thursday, Oct. 14 that a new traffic safety campaign sponsored by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will be unveiled Friday at 11:30 a.m. from Sun Prarie High School.

The campaign, Buckle Up Phone Down, is a social media and online challenge aimed at keeping roads safer across the state through simple safety steps.

Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, WisDOT Secretary Craig Thompson, Wisconsin State Patrol Superintendent Tony Burrell, and Sun Prairie school officials will announce details of the campaign and invite everyone across the state to get involved.
