Mail delays continue in Brown Deer as Sen. Tammy Baldwin demands answers

CBS 58

BROWN DEER, Wis (CBS 58) - Senator Tammy Baldwin is seeking answers for delayed mail deliveries throughout Wisconsin.

In a letter sent to the USPS Postmaster, Baldwin highlighted the recent slow deliveries in Brown Deer.

“In Brown Deer, residents experienced significant delays and inconsistent service from the Post Office on Bradley Road,” Baldwin said in the letter.

Brown Deer Village President Wanda Montgomery says delays started in January and some have had to wait weeks for mail.

“On a weekly basis we probably get five to six residents that will send us a detailed email about what they had anticipated, what they’re getting, what their concern is,” Montgomery said.

Baldwin also addressed the importance of mail in the letter, explaining that millions of Wisconsinites rely on the postal service to stay in touch with loved ones, pay bills, receive much needed medications and cast their vote.

“Some people live and breathe by getting their mail because that’s where they stay informed on what’s happening,” Montgomery said.

Baldwin and Montgomery have questions about USPS staffing shortages and are asking for a solution.

“I don’t know how long the system can maintain this type of activity without addressing it fully,” Montgomery said. “At this point we’re gonna be walking our own mail.”
