RACINE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) — A 58-year-old man is facing multiple felony charges following an investigation into allegations of child sexual assault spanning several decades.

According to the Racine County Sheriff's Office, detectives began investigating Trevor G. Stratton on April 21 after receiving multiple allegations of child sexual assault.

Authorities said the alleged assaults involved identified victims in Wisconsin and dated back to the 1980s, continuing through at least 2010.

Following the investigation, the sheriff's office referred the case to the Racine County District Attorney's Office with recommendations for multiple criminal charges.

A warrant for Stratton's arrest was issued July 21. He appeared in court Wednesday, July 29, and was taken into custody after a judge set a $10,000 cash bond.

Detectives learned during the investigation that Stratton had worked at Shepherds Ministries in Union Grove, which is no longer open. Stratton did not have access or interaction with children or students, as he was just an employee.

The Racine County Sheriff's Office says investigators received an allegation that Stratton may have abused someone associated with the ministry, but the sheriff's office said that allegation has not been substantiated.

Authorities also discovered that similar allegations involving Stratton had previously been investigated in Glynn County, Georgia, where he worked for an organization providing care and educational services to children with developmental disabilities.

"Cases involving the sexual abuse of children are among the most disturbing investigations our detectives undertake," Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling said. "We recognize that it can take victims years, or even decades, to come forward, and we commend the courage of those who have done so in this case. If anyone has information about Trevor Stratton or believes they may have been victimized by him, I strongly encourage them to contact our investigators. Even the smallest piece of information may be critical to ensuring justice and protecting others."

Stratton is charged with one count of first-degree sexual assault of a child under age 12, three counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child and one count of incest.
